All working moms know the struggle between balancing work and kids and Rachel Zoe admits she is no different. Even though the famed stylist has made an established name for herself in the fashion industry she still wrestles with splitting her time between her empire and her family.
Zoe who is a mother to her two boys, Skyler, 7, and Kaius, 4, whom she shares with husband Rodger Berman, may appear to be the perfectly quaffed family from the outside but confesses she has the same meltdowns that every other mother experience’s.
The 46-year-old fashion designer attended the CFDA Awards earlier in the week and disclosed she feels overwhelmed “every minute of every day,” and on occasion, “want to go behind the door and start hysterically crying.”
“It’s all overwhelming because your brain knows you need to be at work and your heart wants to be with your kids. You need to do both. I think it’s important to do both,” she told Us at the event. “With me, the struggle is real.”
“I was literally FaceTiming with my son on the way here for the eighth time today. My four-year-old was hysterically crying on the way to school, ‘Mommy come home. I don’t want to go.’ I wanted to die. I wanted to fly through the phone. It’s hard.”
But with all the pressure and demands that are on the fashion icon, she lives for her two boys and the priceless mommy moments. “I literally have 10 mommy moments a day. I think, in general, the fact that my boys live and die for each other … my little one says ‘We’re combined’ because they sit together. They really look out for each other. When I found out I was having another boy, I was like, ‘Oh my God, I don’t want them to kill each other.’ They don’t. They don’t fight like that. For me, that’s an ongoing mommy moment,” she explained.
Using her platform to make a positive difference in the world and give back is a priority for the Hollywood stylist. And Rachel says that the Hollywood mama circle is a strong network of mother’s that are all pitching in to make a difference for less advantaged families.
“I would say moms in Hollywood give even way more than they receive. I think there are so many incredible moms that make most of their lives trying to give back because they know that they have a little more than others and I think that they use their power with their voice to help. That’s so much what I’ve seen over the last few years, more so in the last two or three years — it’s been an amazing thing.”
